Spring is officially here, so it's time to let loose and get our toes in the sand! It's spring break season, and that means we're hopping into our Orlando Toyota's and riding out to the nearest beaches. Unfortunately, with all of the fun and excitement of spring break, it also comes with long car rides and annoying traffic. Spring break also means a higher chance of reckless or intoxicated drivers on the road. Toyota of Orlando wants to help you stay safe on the road this spring break with car safety tips!
Six Tips For Spring Break Road Safety
Tip #1 Check out the traffic before you embark on your road trip!
From time to time, you end up going on a route and getting stuck in stand-still traffic, which could've been completely avoided if you had checked your route beforehand. So, this is your reminder to use the features on your smartphone to help you navigate to your spring break destination in a timely manner.
Tip #2 Buckle up, or get up!
It can be easy to forget to buckle up with the excitement of spring break. However, this isn't something to slack off on. If you want to get to your destination safely, buckle up, it's that simple. In addition, Florida is a primary seat belt law state, so this means if someone in your car is caught not wearing a seatbelt, the driver will be faced with tickets and fees (that could easily be avoided). So if you're not buckled up, get up and out of the car!
Tip #3 Follow road rules.
You may race to get to your spring break destination and break the speed limits, run past stop signs, forget to use your turning signals, use your phone too much and swerve, etc. However, distracted driving is a fast way to get to your destination late. According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, Driver distraction is responsible for more than 58% of teen crashes. Make sure to drive safely by following road rules in your Orlando Toyota.
Tip #4 Keep a healthy distance in front of you.
When you're driving to your spring break vacation in your Orlando Toyota, keep a healthy distance from the car in front of you. This will help you avoid future car accidents and allow for a smooth ride (especially if you're going to the beach, it's nice to take in all of the views).
Tip #5 Don't drink and drive and always be on the lookout for drunk drivers.
Spring break is a good time to enjoy yourself. You may have a drink or a couple, or maybe not! Whatever the case, beware of drunk drivers, and don't be one yourself! Drive safely in your Orlando Toyota for you and the other people on the road.
Tip #6 Get your car maintenance beforehand.
You have to make sure your car is ready for spring break too with a maintenance checklist! Make your car into our Orlando Toyota Maintenance center to check your tires, battery, brakes, oil, wiper fluid, coolant, and your A/C system to ensure a safe trip there and back.
