A Toyota of Orlando Guide to the 2024 Tacoma Engine

You probably know by now that the 2024 Toyota Tacoma has been announced, and Taco enthusiasts couldn’t be more excited! This iconic new model will be packed with new performance features, technology, style, and more. As we patiently wait for its arrival, Orlando Toyota is here with a little more info on the 2024 Tacoma engine

2024 Toyota Tacoma Engine Options

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma will offer two different engine options to choose from. Here’s what to expect:

The 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder will offer 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft torque. For the SR model, this 2024 Tacoma engine offers 228 horsepower and 243 lb-ft torque.

  • Non-SR models pair this engine with an electronically-controlled, 8-speed automatic transmission with intelligence.
  • The manual transmission gets 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft torque. You will still be able to obtain a six-speed manual transmission with auto rev-matching and anti-stall technology.

The i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain is actually the most powerful powertrain available for the Toyota Tacoma. This option has a 2.4L engine with a 48-hp electric motor and an 8-speed transmission - producing 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft torque.

  • This 2024 Tacoma engine option offers 2x the torque output of the 2023 Tacoma V6 engine and ascends an 8% interstate grade without needing to downshift.
  • You can get this powertrain on the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, TRD PRO and Trailhunter models.

The 2024 Tacoma 0-60 mph time

A big question our Toyota of Orlando team has been getting is how quick can the 2024 Toyota Tacoma get from 0 - 60 mph? We want to know just as much as you do, but we don’t have an exact answer just yet. What we can tell you is the i-FORCE MAX engine will ensure that the 2024 Tacoma 0-60 time will be very impressive. The 2023 Toyota Tundra features a 3.4L Twin Turbo V6 engine, and it gets from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. So, with 465 lb-ft torque, the 2024 Tacoma should be in that range if not faster.

The 2024 Tacoma MPG estimates

Another burning question is about the 2024 Tacoma MPG estimates, and unfortunately we don’t have a lot of info on this yet either. We’re basing our predictions off the Toyota Tundra, so we’ll give you some insight into what we’re thinking here at Orlando Toyota.

Introducing the i-FORCE MAX engine to the Tundra boosted its fuel efficiency up to 20/24 mpg. This isn’t as impressive as other Toyota vehicles such as the Prius, but obviously it's better than the previous V8 engine. The V6 engine in current Toyota Tacomas gets 18/22 mpg, and we think the i-FORCE MAX engine will definitely give the new model a boost in efficiency.

How to rainproof your windshield: Toyota of Orlando tips

Living in Orlando, you’re probably used to the summer rainstorms and know how intense they can get! No one likes driving in the rain, and it can be especially scary when you mix in some lightning and high wind. It’s super important to make sure your car is prepared for harsh weather conditions, so you can have peace of mind and less stress on the road. We have a guide on getting your windshield ready for the rain - let’s get into it with our Toyota of Orlando auto care experts!

how to prep your windshield for rain

The best ways to rainproof your windshield

There are steps you can take to prep your windshield for bad weather and make driving in the rain a little less scary. It’s a good idea to think about this in advance, so you’re ready when the time comes. Our Orlando auto techs have put together four easy ways you can rainproof your windshield

#1 Regularly inspect your windshield

When checking on your windshield, look out for cracks in the glass or any other kinds of chips/dents. If you notice any, you need to report them to your car insurance agency! Driving in the rain is dangerous with this kind of damage, so you will definitely need to look into a windshield replacement to ensure your car is safe to drive.

#2 Keep your windshield clean

Another important thing you can do to rainproof your windshield is keeping it as clean as possible. Small smudges on your windshield may not seem like a big deal, but over time they accumulate and can hinder your vision more than you probably realize. You should frequently clean the windshield with glass cleaner to prevent any buildup - even if you think it’s “clean enough!”

#3 Ensure you have good wiper blades

You want your windshield wipers to be durable, and investing in a midgrade pair of blades will definitely ensure better performance. The last thing you want is to be stuck in the rain with unreliable windshield wipers. There’s no easy fix in the moment if they aren’t working properly - you’ll just have to wait the weather out! If you’re experiencing the following issues, it’s probably time for a replacement. You can always call our Orlando Toyota auto care team if you have questions or think you need some new wipers.

  • Scratching on the windshield glass

  • Chattering or squealing noises

  • Streaks on the glass

  • Blades bouncing across the windshield

#4 Consider a rain repellant

Rain repellant is a great way to rainproof your windshield! It basically helps the water slide more easily off the glass. Also, rain repellant can reduce condensation on your windshield, which makes the defroster’s job easier. Here’s some info on properly applying rain repellant to the windshield:

  1. Clean the glass thoroughly before application

  2. Ensure the cleaner is dried and evaporated before applying the repellant

  3. Apply the repellant evenly (as instructed by the manufacturer)

  4. Let it sit as long as recommended

  5. Once dry, wipe the windshield with a clean microfiber towel

  6. When it’s cured, rinse the glass with water and dry it again
