New Toyota GR Corolla Hot Hatch Incoming!

A few months ago North America released the biggest collective sigh the automotive industry has ever seen. The new Toyota GR Yaris was revealed to be released in European and Asian markets and not on our side of the pond. Yes, it was a sad day for Toyota fans on this side of the globe but there's a happy end to this story. While it hasn't been officially confirmed by Toyota, a new webpage has been created and we're confident that these rumors and speculations are far from tailpipe dreams.

A new Toyota GR Hot Hatch, specific to North America, will be coming to Toyota of Orlando before you know it!

What Exactly is a Hot Hatch?

Before we dive into the highly anticipated Orlando hot hatch, it might be helpful to explain what exactly makes a hot hatch a hot hatch.

Simply put, a hot hatch is defined as a derivative of the popular hatchback body style that's been re-tuned and re-engineered for performance and other special driving maneuvers. A past standard of hot hatches was the use of the FF Layout which employs front wheel drive and an engine in the front of the vehicle. Since the 1960s, hot hatches have been on the scene giving drivers a new type of sportscar to race with. In the 80s this subgenre found a greater following and production as many auto brands made their own iterations of this popular vehicle type.

Hot hatches today are engineered a bit differently with AWD being the norm and highly tuned engines coming right from the assembly line. While North America may not be getting the GR Yaris anytime, we're getting something better. Here's what we know so far about the upcoming Orlando new Toyota GR Corolla Hatchback
