Make sure your car is ready for cold weather!

December is here, and that means we might get some cooler weather here in Orlando. While you’re probably preparing by switching up your wardrobe and getting the blankets ready, what are you doing to prepare your car? With the change in temperature, you need to make sure your Orlando Toyota can handle the change. That’s why out Toyota auto service team is here to help! They’ll make sure your car will be able to handle whatever winter may bring.

Keep your Orlando Toyota prepared for this winter

There are a few things that you should keep track of before winter fully hits Orlando. That’s why our Toyota auto service staff has created a list for you!
Battery
There’s nothing worse than getting ready to leave and finding out your car battery has lost its charge. This can happen more often during the winter if you have an older or damaged car battery. That’s because the cold weather can actually pull the voltage from the battery. Make sure to get your battery checked before it starts getting too cold. And we also recommend keeping your car in a garage as much as possible.
Tire pressure
You may already know this, but the colder the weather is, the more likely it is that your car tires will lose air pressure. For every drop in 10°F, most tires will lose one psi. So be sure to keep track of the inflation of your car’s tires during times of colder temperatures.
Spark plugs
When was the last time you had your spark plugs checked? It’s important to make sure you have properly working spark plugs before the cold weather hits. That’s because when it gets cold, you’ll have a hard start that can be affected by a bad plug. So bring your car in to get your spark plugs checked to avoid the possibility of performance issues this winter.
Auto fluids
Like other liquids, when exposed to cold temperatures auto fluids tend to change their consistency. You’ll find that your oil, antifreeze, power steering, brake, and transmission fluids will all start to thicken in the cold. Your transmission fluid specifically will begin to thicken once temperatures hit below 35°F. Avoid having possible performance issues by getting your auto fluids checked during Orlando car maintenance.
Be sure to get Toyota auto service before the temperatures start dropping. That way, your Orlando Toyota is prepared for the cold.
