Toyota of Orlando's Guide to Upgrading your Car Sound System

When you're driving around in your Orlando Toyota vehicle, there's nothing better than rolling the windows down and turning up your favorite tunes and enjoying the vibes. While many new cars come equipped with a great sound system (some Toyotas come with JBL enhanced sound systems), you may be someone who longs for more from their car sound system. Using aftermarket parts and different components, upgrading your sound system is a lot easier than you think. If you're someone who wants to feel more kick from your bass and experience a deeper sound that you'll love, check out this guide from us at Toyota of Orlando on how to upgrade your car sound system.

Pump Up the Sound in your Orlando Toyota Car

Upgrading your car sound system is a bit of an involved process that requires patience and a little know-how on parts to buy and how to work with your vehicle's wiring. If you need any help with this process, our Orlando auto service techs are more than willing to help and answer any questions you have about upgrading your sound system. Here's where you should get started:

1) Have Patience and Upgrade Slowly
When it comes to upgrading your car sound system, patience and carefully planning your budget is key. It's easy to go crazy when adding audio parts to your vehicle, but there's really no right or wrong way to get started. Before you order your first part, think about exactly what you want to do to upgrade your Orlando Toyota car sound system. Do you want better sound? Do you want a different head unit and infotainment system? Do you want a more even sound throughout your vehicle? Whatever your goals may be, take it one step at a time to ensure you purchase the right parts and don't go over budget.

2) Get a New Head Unit/Receiver
Typically, if you're going to replace your vehicle's speakers as part of your sound system upgrade, you're going to need a new head unit/receiver. This can give you better capabilities like navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and satellite radio. Plus, you're going to need the power boost to ensure that your new speakers produce sound at any volume without a hitch.

3) Get New Speakers
Enhancing the sound in your car is going to require a few new speakers. First, count the number of speakers you'll need in your vehicle. Vehicles can come equipped with anywhere from two to six and even eight speakers inside the cabin. Depending on how involved you want your audio upgrades to be, make sure to determine the number of speakers you want to replace. Pro tip, start in the front of the vehicle so you can enjoy the sound and then move toward the back seat.

4) Time to Boost the Power
Adding new or more powerful speakers to your car audio system draws a lot of extra power from the battery and you're going to need a way to make sure your speakers don't drain it. Get yourself an amplifier. Amplifiers distribute power more efficiently and evenly to the speakers for a more even sound. At minimum you should get a 4-channel amplifier for your Orlando Toyota car sound system to cover your front and back seat speakers. Getting one with additional channels is also a good idea if you plan on adding more speakers over time.

5) Add a Subwoofer and Dedicated Amp
If you're looking for a bassier experience from your car sound system, you're going to want to get your hands on a subwoofer. This specific speaker adds a deeper sound to the bass and overall sound and can shake your car a little if you turn up the settings enough. You'll always want to use a dedicated amp for this speaker to ensure an ample amount of power is generated for it. Pro tip, make sure you have enough space for this speaker as it sits in a large assembly and takes up a lot of space in your trunk or backseats.

Toyota of Orlando's Guide to DIY Auto Body Repair

Driving, especially in a place like Orlando, comes with several hazards apart from accidents. Most drivers often forget road debris, construction zones, and other factors that can damage the exterior of your car. Not only that, but you could also run into a rouge shopping cart or tap someone else's car and wind up with a fair bit of damage. While your vehicle will continue to run normally, it's a sore sight walking to your reliable ride and seeing a large blemish somewhere on the exterior. Trips to the auto body shop can wind up being expensive and eat up a lot of your time (unless you pay a visit to our Orlando Toyota body shop). If you're a fan of DIY projects and need to fix some damage on your vehicle, check out our guide on auto body repair.

Toyota of Orlando auto body repair work.

Auto Body Repair Right from your Driveway or Garage
While it's never fun to bear the sight of your vehicle's exterior blemishes, most drivers don't commit to auto body repair work because of how expensive and time consuming it is. But, there are several small jobs that you can take care of right from the comfort of home. Here are a few jobs you can do yourself and how to get started:

1) Scratch Repair

They can be big, small, deep, or shallow, and very annoying to see. Scratches are an inevitable exterior blemish that seem to multiply the more you look for them. While they're annoying to look at, they're very easy to fix and you can do this auto body repair job at home. Before you get started, make sure to check the depth of the scratch, if it appears white that means your paint and clear coat are scratched and you'll have to fill in the scratch. Make sure to use a matching touch-up paint and fine sand paper to smooth out the area you filled. Afterwards, apply a layer of wax until the color matches the rest of the paint.

2) Dents

Similar to scratches, dents are an auto body repair job that is somewhat easy to remedy, depending on the extent of the damage. Inspect your Orlando Toyota vehicle up and down to find exactly how many dents you have to repair and the depth of them. Shallow dents can usually be repaired using a suction cup tool but others may require that and paint touch-ups to the area. Be delicate and patient with this process so as to avoid causing any further damage to your Orlando Toyota vehicle's exterior.

3) Broken Lights (Assemblies and Bulbs)

Messing with wiring and lights on your Orlando Toyota car can seem intimidating but, rest assured, it's very easy and an auto body repair job you should do at home to save money and time. Before you get started, turn off your vehicle and put painter's tape around the painted areas of your bumper near the head or taillight assembly. Continue by locating the screws and bolts attaching the light assembly to your vehicle and removing them. Remove the bulb, reattach the assembly, and replace the light bulb if it's burnt out or broken. You can always order a new light bulb or light assembly from our auto parts store here at Toyota of Orlando!

Current Toyota Technology Updates

While being one of the world’s largest auto manufacturers, Toyota doesn’t limit themselves to just making the best vehicles available around the world. Every day, Toyota makes headlines for their advancements in the auto industry as it advances its mission to provide mobility for all. Recently, Toyota has been making investments in different projects like autonomous vehicles, better and accessible public transportation, and renewable sources of fuel. Needless to say, we’re excited for the arrival of this new Toyota technology to Toyota of Orlando and we can’t wait to see what kind of waves this will make in the automotive industry. The future is almost here and Toyota is paving the way with its new Toyota technology projects and Toyota of Orlando has some initial details.

Toyota and Panasonic at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
While it may not be an automotive project, not like Toyota and Panasonic’s other partnership to develop better auto batteries, it’s still incredible to see what Toyota technology can do. At Toyota of Orlando, we can’t wait to see what’s coming next. Panasonic and Toyota plan to use a special fleet of robots during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Toyota’s Human Support Robots and Delivery Support Robots will be used to provide assistance to the elderly and others during the festival by picking up and carrying objects. It will also help disabled spectators to navigate the stadium during events. Panasonic will also be demonstrating the capabilities of their Power Assist Suits that act as a wearable exoskeleton to reduce strain and carrying loads.

Toyota’s Unique New Feature
Have you ever wanted the interior of your vehicle to not smell like the pizza you had carried out last night? This device can help with that and more! Toyota recently filed a patent for an interesting piece of Toyota technology, an interior deodorizer that also acts as an anti-theft device that sprays tear gas. What? Essentially, this device links to a smartphone to deliver unique scents chosen by the vehicle owner and also emits tear gas in the event that a thief tries to start the engine. We’re not sure if this piece of Toyota technology will ever come to fruition in a new Orlando Toyota vehicle. But, if it ever makes its way out of the patent phase, we can’t wait to see it action!

More Autonomous Vehicle Progress
In a recent partnership with NVIDIA, a company that specializes in the manufacturing graphics cards and chips used in custom built PCs, Toyota has come another step closer to producing an Orlando autonomous vehicle. Toyota Research Institute-Advanced Development (TRI-AD) has been developing technology to put the first totally autonomous vehicle on the road. NVIDIA will be developing different driving software platforms with Toyota to bring us closer to an autonomous driving experience.

Are curious about what else Toyota has coming down the pike when it comes to new Toyota technology? Stay up to date with us at Toyota of Orlando! You can find us at 3575 Vineland Road and we’re open seven days a week.
